Antique Dented Oiler - Perfect Restoration

In this video i'm restoring an antique dented oiler.

My friend found this oiler in the steel waste at the recycling station. I really liked the unique design of it and I bought it from him for $5. It almost had no rust, but it was very dirty and had a lot of dents. The tricky part of this restoration was definitely the removing of all the dents in the can. I want to say thank you to my friend who helped me with this and to his boss, who allowed him to use the tools from his work place. Check out his website (www.huegli.swiss), they do car body repair in Zurich Switzerland. I'm very happy how it turned out and I really like the new look of the oiler. I'll keep this oiler in my shop and I'm going to use it from now on.

I hope you like my work and the video.

  • boring. Not funny. Didn't laugh. 3/10, no amogus.

  • isn't it a modification if you round up edges, isn't it something else when its fiished than before?

  • Love his work

  • that dent remover tool is actually so cool

  • An exercise in what people will watch.

  • Like, gag me with an oiler! Totally *knurly* Man!

  • I will pay $6

  • This man has the patience of Job. I would have pressurize the oil can and heated the dents with oxy acetylene, and watch them pop right out.

  • Another great restoration! Thanks for sharing!

  • Beautiful. And not jet black… ;)

  • hey @my mechanics first of all, love what you're doing. not just restoring but making it better than it was when it was new. What parts washer do you use? it looks like soemthing i might introduce into my workshop

  • 👍👌❤️🙏

  • I repaired something this week instead of throwing it out. Thank you for your inspiration!

  • ¡Lindo trabajo!.

  • The TIN MAN thanks you !

    • Thanks a lot for watching :-)

  • So ist das nichts mehr wert. Das Alter macht es wertvoll

  • I thought that there would have originally been a leather washer rather than an 'o' ring ?

  • perfect

  • Pp

  • Amazing result.

  • Hermosa pieza, excelente trabajo 👏👏👏❤👍👍👍

  • Very Miraculous job, Sir. 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍

  • Excellent job. It looks like it was made just right now. Doesn't look restored at all. Level of perfection is infinity.

  • great job bro

  • wounderful job

  • 👌🏻👌🏻

  • Golden color was more better than this green.....

  • I like these simple restorations better than the ones where he builds a lot of new parts.

  • Only one word wonderful

  • Well done

  • 2:03 don’t say it

  • What we can use

  • Bravo!

  • there are lot of tools I never seen before

  • Man i enjoy all your videos. The atention to every detail, and the final results are awesome! 🙌🏻

  • I have been spending the last few days watching your videos. I am going to have to repeat what you already know. You sir, have mad skills!

  • But I would not trust an oiler that had no dent. .

  • Beautiful! Great job!

  • Trabalho maravilhoso, lindíssimo! O lubrificador foi transformado em jóia. Parabéns!

  • There is always someone who has something to say about the work that others do! Instead you are very good.

  • genial....

  • Hi

  • Que buena restauración se ve bien

  • is there any genie inside?

  • Mükemmel

  • 500 nagad dunga

  • Muito bom

  • Sir, I think that O-Ring needs Teflon backup rings. Then, it'll shoot oil across the room. Teflon back-up rings are designed to prevent extrusion in rubber o-ring sealing systems.

  • Looks like a delicious candy green Apple flavor! Delicious ready to enjoy it! Great job CONGRATS:).

  • Legendary Hand's

  • Okay but that perfect pour of rust remover into the can was great.

  • You even buffed up the spring, that is a very skilled mechanic or a very talented tool maker, Well Done!!!

  • I just cleaned one of these today but only cleaned it (I don't have the tools or the patience to do as much as you did). The only differences are that the small part with the ball at the beginning of the tube is in aluminium on mine and your cork gasket is a simple rubber gasket on mine. It was painted in a copper like paint on the outside. I didn't touch that. Very good job on yours, it's always impressive to see the end result.

  • would be been easier to just make a new tip instead of filing the knurling.

  • Complimenti! Ma sei italiano o svizzero? Fammi sapere grazie ciao

  • It's perfect! Just one question though, why didn't you sand blast the oiler's body to get an even finish?

  • Ficou lindo!!

  • I really like the Jaguar green on that.

  • And that is shinniest oiler in the world in existence!

  • Everybody giving "advice" to this guy needs to shutup.

  • what are the spots we can see in the interior on 5:29?

  • Nice 👍

  • Beautiful. Nice job. Great patience. Love the transition from junk to masterpiece. Ha ha. Keep up the great work.

  • Wow. That is amazing. I enjoyed watching.

  • I REALLY don't think you need to put "Perfect Restoration" in any of your titles. If it's a My Mechanics video, we already KNOW it's going to be perfect. So, to put it back on you...."Title is broken, I make new one" Ed H

  • Very nice job

  • Have you considered heating the metal to 160-200 degrees F and then using dry ice to pop out the dents? A lot of auto body shops use it to remove dents

    • Really? never heard of it
